About WEDNESDAY
The Wednesday Zine & Art Collective was founded by Emily Blake (@alienemz) in 2014. In collaboration with 4 other female students, the first ever volume of the Wednesday Zine was produced-- filled with paintings, collage, long-form articles, and illustration. At the time of our founding, the proceeds from physical copies of the zine and our first t-shirt design were donated to the Malala Fund. Wednesday was founded as a resource and vessel for teenage girls to immerse themselves in the art world, in politics, and in every other area where people are shocked to see young women showing up.
Since our founding, Wednesday has evolved into being more focused on digital, with the majority of our content released on WednesdayZine.com and @wednesdayzine
But Wednesday has always been focused on building community, and giving back to it. Our apparel drops focus on creating a sense of community within our followers, and donating our profits to an organization focused on equity. Profits from our first apparel drop went to the Malala Fund, the second went to Planned Parenthood, and the soon-to-be-announced third drop will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
You can view Volume 3 of the Wednesday Zine in print at the Barnard College Zine Library, or purchase it at Wasted Ink Zine Distro in Phoenix, Arizona. Follow us on Instagram @WednesdayZine
